Girl kicks harasser off bus

What would a girl normally do if she found herself sexually harassed in public? An 18-year-old girl in Shenyang, capital of northeast China’s Liaoning Province, has become an internet sensation for kicking a sex-pest off a bus, setting a bold example for female commuters.

The student, nicknamed Xiao’ai, first took a photo of the guy, who is (not surprisingly) looking down at the ground, and then she kicked the man off the bus as soon as the bus doors next opened.

I turned into a ‘tough girl’ in seconds, and kicked him on his lower back…directly kicking him off the bus”, she posted on her personal Sina Weibo account @aiaimiao.

My friends told me that kind of harassment should not be ignored if it happens. I dared to handle it by myself, but what about others?” added Xiao’ai.

She later told a reporter from local media Liaoshen Evening News that she had been riding a heavily crowded local bus at the time of the incident. She said she had been playing on her cell phone when she felt the man behind rubbing against her with his private parts.

She intended to catch the ‘pervert’, but with magazines in one hand and her phone in the other, her scope for damage was limited. So using her wits, she took a photo with her phone and kicked him off the bus as they arrived at the next station, surprising everyone on board.

When asked why she took photos, she said, “To expose him! Those people should never be tolerated. If there’s no photo, people won’t believe it. There are so many girls that keep silent on this… If anyone encountering this did the same thing as me, less people will get hurt.” She explained.

This year saw a spate of similar stories. Earlier this month online video footage of two more females being harassed went viral online, prompting stronger calls for prevention. One was in a subway in southwest China’s Chengdu, and the other in Shanghai.

Xiao’ai’s kick has been mostly praised China’s netizens, while others took a more cautionary approach.

“Well done! Never lower your head and give in to vicious force.” @Jabinsen

“Not supporting this! Because it might cause accidental injuries, or lead to abusive violence…or, even more seriously, lead to criminal disputes or crime. ”

Okay guys, I’m going to get serious for a minute.
If you’re not in Ireland at the moment, you may not know about the situation regarding the laws on abortion. It is completely illegal, even in cases of rape, incest, fatal foetal abnormality, and other such things.

Women have died in this country because inability to have an abortion put strain on their health. A woman who wasn’t even Irish begged for an abortion because her child was about to die in the womb. The complications arising from her case resulted in her contracting septicaemia, organ failure, and tragically dying.
In 1992, the X Case took place, involving a 14-year-old girl, knowns only as x, who became pregnant after being raped. Instead of offering help to the girl, who because suicidal, they prevented her from travelling out of the country for an abortion.

Any Irish woman* who needs an abortion has to travel to the UK, which means if you don’t have the money, you’re out of luck. What does the Irish Government have to say about this?

Well, recently the UN confronted the Government about our abortion laws, pointing out that we were breaking Human Rights laws, and that the Government treated Irish women* like vessels.

Joan Burton, the Tánaiste, said that there will be no referendum on abortion in this Government’s lifetime. They’re literally saying that they don’t care enough to rectify Human Rights breaches.

I am NOT a vessel, and neither are you. Make your voice heard. Come to the March for Choice on the 27th of September in Dublin.

Never give up, never stay quiet.

This has only been up since last night and LADS, the NOTES. Keep spreading the word!

Yup that’s how backward this country is

We have the chance for our country to leap forward and these ignorant old women and men who run our country continue to try to keep us in the Stone Ages.

Too many women have been abused by our ridiculous and cracked government.

Reblog this, please, even if you aren’t Irish. It’s so fucking important.
